How to do it
- Stand on the middle of a resistance band with both feet and loop the other end over an EZ bar.
- Take the bar with an underhand grip on the inner angled sections, hands closer than shoulder-width.
- Stand tall with your elbows tucked against your sides.
- Curl the bar up against both the weight and the band.
- Stop when the forearms are roughly vertical, then squeeze briefly.
- Lower under control against the band to straight arms.
Common mistakes
- Loading the bar as if the band were not there. Band tension rises as the bar does, so a weight that starts easily can stop halfway.
- Standing on the band unevenly. One foot holding more of it tilts the pull and loads one arm harder.
- Letting the elbows drift forward. Once the upper arms travel, the front deltoid raises the bar through the top half.
- Letting the band snap the bar down. The lowering half is where the band still has tension, and it is the part most often given away.
