How to do it
- Clean two kettlebells to the rack position, bells resting on the backs of your forearms.
- Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart, stomach braced, ribs down.
- Press both bells overhead with the arms alone — no dip, no leg drive.
- Let the wrists turn so the palms face forward as the bells pass the head.
- Finish with the arms straight and the bells settled over your shoulders.
- Lower under control back to the rack.
Common mistakes
- Dipping the knees to start. That makes it a push press, which moves more weight and trains something else.
- Letting the wrists bend back under the bells. Straight wrist with the bell on the forearm is what makes the position comfortable.
- Arching the lower back to press. Standing, the arch has nowhere to go but the spine.
- Pressing before the bells have settled in the rack. A bell caught badly is pressed badly, and the rack is where the repetition starts.
