How to do it
- Set a suspension trainer so the foot cradles hang at about knee height.
- Take a push-up position with both feet in the cradles.
- Set your hands under your shoulders and your body in one line.
- Brace your stomach hard.
- Draw your knees toward your chest, letting the hips curl upward at the end.
- Extend the legs back out under control until the body is in one line again.
Common mistakes
- Letting the hips sag on the way out. The body holds one line at full extension, and the hips dropping is the trunk giving up at the hardest point.
- Pulling the knees in without the hips rising. Knees to chest with the hips flat is hip flexion; the pelvis curling upward is the abdominal half.
- Letting the straps swing. They move where a floor does not, and controlling that is part of the exercise.
- Letting the shoulders drift behind the hands. Stacked shoulders are what make the position holdable for a set.
