How to do it
- Sit on the floor or a bench with a kettlebell racked on one shoulder, bell on the forearm.
- Sit tall with your stomach braced — seated removes the legs entirely.
- Press the bell overhead until the arm is straight.
- Let the wrist turn so the palm faces forward as the bell passes your head.
- Lower under control back to the rack position.
- Finish the side before swapping.
Common mistakes
- Leaning away from the pressing side. Seated on the floor there is nothing to brace against, and a side bend is the only way a heavy bell goes up.
- Letting the wrist bend back. Straight wrist with the bell resting on the forearm; a bent wrist takes the whole load through the joint.
- Choosing your standing weight. Seated removes the legs and the trunk's contribution, so the usable load is lower — which is the point.
- Sitting slumped. Sitting tall is what lets the arm finish overhead rather than in front of the body.
