How to do it

  1. Set an adjustable bench to roughly fifteen to thirty degrees and sit down with a dumbbell on each thigh.
  2. Lie back, kicking the dumbbells up into position over your shoulders one knee at a time.
  3. Squeeze your shoulder blades down into the bench and plant your feet flat on the floor.
  4. Turn your palms forward and press the dumbbells up until your arms are straight above your upper chest.
  5. Lower under control until the dumbbells are level with the top of your chest, letting them travel wider than a bar would allow.
  6. Press back up and slightly inward, stopping just short of the dumbbells touching.
