How to do it

  1. Attach a rope to a cable pulley set at roughly head height or slightly above.
  2. Take one end of the rope in each hand with your thumbs pointing back toward you, and step back until the cable is under tension.
  3. Stand with a staggered stance, chest up, arms extended toward the pulley.
  4. Pull the rope toward your face by driving your elbows back and keeping them high — at or above the height of your hands throughout.
  5. Finish with your hands beside your ears, elbows wide, and your shoulder blades drawn together.
  6. Let the rope travel forward under control until your arms are straight and your shoulder blades open again.
